As you join Project Ruth, we are eager for you to partner in our mission to value and cherish the Orthodox halachic system while embracing the lived reality of those we welcome.
While Project Ruth and its rabbis are Orthodox affiliated and the process of conversion is according the most rigid of Orthodox practice, we can only open the doors we can open. Our rabbis and Beit Din are in relationship with Orthodox Jewish communities throughout the world and will be accepted by most. Our conversion is in strict adherence to Halacha-Jewish law and we hope that that will suffice wherever your journey takes you. Different Jewish communities have their own customs, traditions, and ways of practice, and with that in mind, there will always be the possibility of pushback or critique. Should such a situation arise, we will advocate for you to the best of our ability. Unfortunately, politics sometimes play a role in what should solely be a spiritual commitment to and embrace of Judaism.
Our rabbis and Beit Din deeply appreciate our connection to and bond with the land and people of Israel. While politics of all sides are welcome, we do expect that those pursuing acceptance of and welcoming by the Jewish people though our program support the idea of a Jewish state in our ancestral homeland.
A requirement of halachic conversion is the acceptance of the responsibilities of the mitzvot. While life ebbs and flows and as individuals particular practice might shift and evolve throughout your life, this process culminates with the formal, covenantal, lifelong commitment to wrestle with Jewish life and practice.
